IGA fleet wins South Carolina safety award

The South Carolina Trucking Association has presented its top safety award to W Lee Flowers & Co Inc of Lake City SC. Flowers is a full-service grocery distribution company for IGA stores in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. The company had the lowest accident frequency rate of any fleet considered for the award. Flowers ran 1.5 million miles in 2001. The company credits its close relationship with drivers and the support of senior management for its positive safety results, says Ronald V Poston, transportation manager.
