Tyson brings its chicken products to Canada

Tyson Foods Inc and Export Packers Co Ltd of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, have announced a joint venture to produce fully cooked chicken products for sale in the Canadian market.

The venture's production facility, which will employ sophisticated processing technology, will be in Paris, Ontario. More than 30 employees initially will work at the production facility. Start-up is planned for spring 2004; the name of the company is Export Packers Foods Ltd.

This venture will produce Tyson brand products, as well as products sold under Export Packers' brands for both foodservice and consumer markets. The venture will combine both companies' sales forces and distribution channels to create a Canada-wide sales force.
