SuperValu unit adds 17 Grocery Outlet sites

Minneapolis MN-based grocery giant SuperValu Inc's Save-A-Lot chain has acquired leasehold interests in 17 former Grocery Outlet sites primarily in the Dallas/Fort Worth TX area and surrounding markets.

Minneapolis MN-based grocery giant SuperValu Inc’s Save-A-Lot chain has acquired leasehold interests in 17 former Grocery Outlet sites primarily in the Dallas/Fort Worth TX area and surrounding markets. These locations support Save-A-Lot’s expansion plans for the current fiscal year. Save-A-Lot currently operates 30 licensed locations in Texas.

“The addition of these locations kicks off Save-A-Lot’s expansion activity for fiscal 2005,” said Jeff Noddle, chairman and chief executive officer of SuperValu.

The Save-A-Lot store network comprises 1,225 stores across 37 states.
