Houston TX-based food distributor Sysco Corp plans to construct a 300,000-square-foot distribution center to serve eastern North Carolina. Location of the facility has been narrowed to three possible sites in that area, with the decision likely to depend on economic development incentives.

Sysco would employ 300 to 400 workers when it opens the eastern North Carolina center, with the total increasing to 700 employees in a few years.

This center would contain storage for cold and frozen foods along with dry goods and dock space. It likely will be operating by the end of fiscal year 2006, according to the firm.
