UPS Logistics Group has released Mobilecast version 5.0, which includes enhancements to increase delivery accuracy and boost driver productivity.
Mobilecast is a client/server-based wireless dispatch and delivery tool for managing customer-facing operations in real-time. The solution bundles dispatch, tracking, and delivery management software functions with handheld computers communicating over two-way wireless data networks.
In version 5.0, the addition of tote- or container-scanning capability increases delivery accuracy by allowing products to be checked at both loading and delivery. The application will indicate incorrectly scanned or unscanned items. Delivery variances also can be accounted for instantly by indicating over/short/damaged quantities with specific reason codes.
To assist in directing drivers, Mobilecast 5.0 will show turn-by-turn text driver directions between stops. Using GPS information, lost drivers can receive on-demand directions from their current position to the next stop or to a new location.
