SunOpta Inc has reached an agreement with the shareholders of Kofman-Barenholtz Foods Ltd to acquire 100% of the outstanding shares of the company. The all-cash transaction has been completed.

Toronto, Canada-based Kofman-Barenholtz distributes kosher and specialty grocery products across Canada. It maintains several exclusive sourcing arrangements with kosher foods suppliers worldwide.

This transaction strengthens SunOpta's Canadian natural, organic, and specialty foods distribution network. It also positions SunOpta as a major kosher foods distributor.

SunOpta Inc's three business units include the SunOpta Food Group, which specializes in processing and distribution of natural and organic food products.
