Shell Rotella T Multigrade 15W-40 Heavy Duty Engine Oil meets all of the specification criteria for the newly created API CI-4 Plus classification. Rotella T was able to meet the requirements without any modifications to its current formulation.

Shell ROTELLA T also has been tested and passed all tests required to be qualified against the following performance specifications: API CI-4, Caterpillar ECF-1, Cummins 20078, Mack EO-N Premium Plus 03, Mercedes-Benz 228.3, and Volvo VDS-3.

Recently established by the American Petroleum Institute (API) to enhance the performance standards of the current API CI-4 category, the new classification requires qualifying oils to include more stringent soot handling capability and upgraded shear stability control.

Scheduled for licensing on September 1, the API CI-4 Plus classification will validate the ability of motor oils to better perform with EGR engines that entered the marketplace in 2002.

In addition to 0Shell ROTELLA T motor oil, Shell Rimula Premium SAE 15W-40 and Pennzoil Long-Life SAE 15W-40 also meet the criteria for the new SAE CI-4 Plus classification.
