Covenant keeps revenue on an even keel

Covenant Transport Inc, the Chattanooga TN-based truckload carrier, has announced financial and operating results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2004.

For the quarter, revenue remained essentially constant at $137.7 million in the 2004 first quarter, compared with $137.9 million in the same quarter in 2003. Freight revenue, before fuel surcharges, also remained about the same, at $130.6 million in the 2004 first quarter versus $130.4 million in the comparable 2003 quarter. Net income decreased to $721,000 from $839,000 for the first quarter of 2003.
