Employees at Freightliner LLC's Sterling Truck assembly plant in St Thomas, Ontario, Canada, have voted to end a strike begun February 21 and have accepted a new three-year contract.

A total of 91% of 851 Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union members voted March 9 to ratify a tentative agreement completed March 7. This deal provides workers a package of wage increases, pensions, and specific health-care benefits, according to CAW. The negotiation is the first one the union has conducted for workers at the St Thomas plant.

Freightliner, a subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler AG, produces heavy-duty trucks. Its Sterling Truck plant in St Thomas manufactures about 70 medium- and heavy-duty trucks a day.
