Marten Transport Ltd has been named to the Forbes Magazine list of the 200 Best Small Companies for a second consecutive year.

After entering the list at number 179 in 2005, the Mondovi WI-based refrigerated carrier improved its ranking among businesses Forbes.com describes as the “most robust, fundamentally disciplined public outfits,” to number 141 this year.

To qualify for the list, a company must have a share price of above $5 as of September 29 on three-month average volume of 10,000 shares. It must carry profit margins of greater than 5% with positive sales and profit growth, on average, over both the past five years and past 12 months.

Marten operates more than 2,500 tractors and 3,700 trailers. It employs 2,600-plus people and operates four regional facilities.
