Birds Eye Foods watches net sales sink

Birds Eye Foods Inc, the Rochester NY-based manufacturer and marketer of frozen vegetables, has reported net income of $12.2 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2004 compared with $13.6 million in fiscal 2003.

Net sales for the second quarter of fiscal 2004 were about $253.8 million, a decrease of $11.3 million versus $265.1 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2003.

Net income for the six-month period ended Dec 27, 2003, was $15.1 million. Net sales for the six-month period ended Dec 27, 2003 were approximately $446.3 million, which represented a decline of $20.5 million from $466.8 million for the six-month period ended Dec 28, 2002.
