Horton Inc has announced the first installation of its new DriveMaster fan drive into Sterling Trucks' Model A9500 powered with a 350-hp, 12.7-liter Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine. Part of a purchase agreement, Sterling also will use Horton's fan drive with its Cat 3126, Cat C12, and future heavy-truck engines.

Horton's fan drive can save 30 to 90 gallons of fuel annually due to minimized drag and a spring-engaged/air-disengaged design. This design reduces parasitic losses and keeps engine coolant temperature at an optimum operating level.

DriveMaster's torque output supports 250- to 600-hp diesel engines with 32" fans. Its compression springs, friction surface, and low-friction bearings add reliability in high-horsepower applications.
