Covenant Transport income rolls forward

Covenant Transport Inc, the Chattanooga TN-based truckload carrier, announced financial and operating results for the quarter and six-month period ended June 30, 2004.

For the quarter, net income surged 39% to $4.4 million from $3.2 million in 2003. Total revenue rose 3% to $149.8 million from $145.9 million in 2003.

For the first six months, net income advanced 28% to $5.1 million, compared with $4.0 million in 2003. Total revenue inched ahead 1% to $287.5 million from $283.8 million during the same period of 2003.
