The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) has announced that TIP Intermodal Services is the first leasing company to join the Uniform Intermodal Interchange and Facilities Access Agreement (UIIA).

The UIIA is a standard industry contract between intermodal truckers/drayage companies and water, rail, and leasing companies designed to help provide uniformity in the interchange process. The basic agreement covers liability and other issues related to interchange of intermodal equipment between motor carrier and equipment provider.

TIP Intermodal Services' participation will reduce paperwork for all parties involved and eliminates the need for truckers to sign interchange contracts with TIP Intermodal individually. Insurance filings by motor carriers also are reduced since only one certificate must be issued to the UIIA, and this information then is provided to the individual equipment providers.
