Keller and DAC join forces for online driver screening
Many carriers already take driver applications online through their web sites. However screening and qualification of those applicants still requires a labor-intensive clerical effort. For years, DAC Services, a company originally known as Drive-a-Check, has helped carriers verify driver backgrounds and law enforcement history. Later, in summer 2002, that service will be available online from J J Keller & Associates through its new Driver Management Online service.
Keller, based in Neenah, Wisconsin, is a specialized publisher that has offered ready-made and custom safety and regulatory-compliance products since 1953. Its product line includes technical publications, specialized forms, CD-ROM and online training programs, and computer software. DAC Services of Tulsa, Oklahoma, maintains proprietary databases to help in employment screening. It also provides drug and alcohol testing.
Working together, Keller and DAC will provide online services to streamline driver qualification and application reviews, drug and alcohol test reporting, employee file management, and training administration. A key element of Driver Management Online is its ability to handle screening data electronically, says Randy Thome, senior manager for Keller Data Solutions. “DAC Services is our lead partner in this new service,” he says.
The new system allows users to create applications files, setting hiring criteria, sorting applications, and selecting qualified applicants. System users can access DAC reports to gather pre-employment records. This automates driver qualification file management. Users can request motor vehicle department reports from DAC, attach images and documents to the files, generate reports, print forms, maintain driver qualification checklists, and receive notification of pending or out-of-compliance reports on personnel.
