Dana Spicer has new hubs available for its new 20,000- and 22,000-lb steer axles. The new hubs use the same technology in place for Spicer's current low maintenance wheel end systems. The wheel ends are available with aluminum or iron hubs from ConMet. Premium, pre-adjusted wheel bearings reduce installation time and the need for maintenance. Machined bearing spacers help increase wheel seal and brake life. A patented hubcap and vent system helps prevent intake of foreign matter.
The hub systems are field serviceable with aftermarket components from Dana Spicer and are designed to last for extended use. In most applications, fleets would replace wheel seals and lubricant only one in 10 years, says Steve Slesinski, director of product planning for Dana Corporation. The hubs carry a three-year, 350,000-mile warranty.
The new hub systems are fully compatible with Bendix Spicer air disc brakes.
