Houston TX-based foodservice distributor Sysco Corp plans to build a broadline foodservice fold-out distribution center in Longview TX. A site on State Highway 149, south of Interstate 20, has tentatively been selected, and due diligence is underway.

This new facility likely will be operating in first quarter 2008. It will serve restaurants, schools, hospitals, hotels, colleges, retirement homes, and other foodservice operations in east Texas and parts of Arkansas and Louisiana. The complex will include about 290,000 square feet of refrigerated, frozen, and dry warehouse space, along with administrative offices.

Created in 1995, Sysco's fold-out strategy involves constructing new facilities in an area with an established sales base that distant Sysco companies had been serving. The Longview operation will be the firm's 18th broadline fold-out so far.
