Shell Lubricants has announced that its top-selling heavy-duty motor oil — Shell Rotella T 15W-40 multigrade engine oil — meets Caterpillar's ECF-1 (engine crankcase fluid) specification criteria, and is approved for use in all Caterpillar engines requiring the additional protection. Created to help Cat engines meet 2002 emissions regulations, the ECF-1 specification goes into effect June 1, 2003.
