Dean Foods rejects milk from cloned cows
Despite the federal government’s tentative approval of meat and milk from cloned animals, Dean Foods Co says its customers wouldn’t buy milk from those animals. The Dallas TX-based firm’s brands include Horizon Organic and Land O’Lakes.
"Numerous surveys have shown that Americans are not interested in buying dairy products that contain milk from cloned cows, and Dean Foods is responding to the needs of our consumers," a Dean Foods statement said.
The Food and Drug Administration could give final approval for meat and milk from cloned animals by the end of 2007.
Reportedly the nation’s largest dairy company, Dean Foods would not indicate if milk from cloned animals’ offspring would be acceptable.
