Phillips and Temro Industries, a business unit of Transportation Technologies Industries, is introducing its Cab Power 120-volt AC power system designed to provide auxiliary power to the cabs of heavy-duty trucks.
The Cab Power system is designed to allow drivers to connect to the “shore power” becoming available at truckstops. This system supplies power through a series of pre-wired, modular components installed in the interior of the cab.
Cab Power incorporates a 120-volt AC electrical load center that feeds electrical power to multiple receptacle outlets and a weatherproof inlet housing mounted on the exterior of the cab. An optional cable TV and telephone connection is available. The systems can also be connected to a DC/AC inverter connected to the truck's battery for instances when shore power is not available. Once installed, Cab Power can accommodate appliances such as TVs, VCRs, microwaves, toaster ovens, refrigerators, and computers, all without the engine idling when a vehicle is parked.
