Eagle Food Centers Inc, which owns and operates supermarkets in Illinois and Iowa, has announced that the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois confirmed the sale of certain Eagle stores.

The court approved separate purchase agreements for certain assets related to these purchasers, store locations in Illinois, and anticipated transaction closing dates in 2003:

´ Albertson's Inc; Dixon, Geneseo, Morris, New Lenox, and Peru; September 29

´ Butera Finer Foods Inc; Lindenhurst, Naperville (Chicago Avenue), and St Charles IL; September 19

´ The Kroger Co; Decatur, Rockford (#316), and Sterling, September 22; Lincoln, Ottawa, and Rockford (#136), September 29

´ J B Sullivan Inc, Freeport, September 12

´ Supermercado El Guero De Aurora Inc, Aurora (Farnsworth Avenue), September 16

´ SVT LLC; Watseka, September 17; and Kankakee, September 29

´ Harold E Wisted, Woodstock, September 30

Eagle has extended the bid deadline for its remaining 21 stores and its infrastructure to Sept 17, 2003.
