Terion has introduced an hours-of-service (HOS) module that provides a series of reports using trailer location information gained from the company's FleetView unit as well as load/unload status gained from a sensor.
The module was developed to help increase productivity under the new HOS rules that take effect Jan 4, 2004, company officials said.
This module displays the amount of time a trailer is either at the customer's location being unloaded, or in the case of a live load, the amount of time the trailer is at the customer's location being loaded. It summarizes information to provide only the trailers that have exceeded a user-defined time period at the dock, allowing the carrier to follow up on the specific issue and/or implement a detention charge.
The net impact of this capability is the measurement and ultimate reduction of time a driver spends waiting for a trailer to be loaded or unloaded.
