Service Carries Reliability to Pacific Islands Since its launch nearly two years ago, Hamburg Sud's South Seas Steamship Line service has brought schedule reliability to South Pacific islands including Tahiti, Western and American Samoa, and Tonga.
South Seas Steamship and its vessel service partner, Polynesia Line, operate a pair of modern container ships on the Islands trade route. The South Seas connection has also allowed cargoes to be delivered to Tongan customers every two weeks instead of the previous once a month.
South Seas vessels make direct calls at San Francisco and Los Angeles CA with feeder cargoes being trans-shipped over Los Angeles via the Matson West Coast shuttle service from Vancouver, British Columbia, and Seattle WA. The service's two ships have their own on-board cranes for use in ports with limited shoreside capacity.
Southbound shipments include food and general merchandise, much of it delivered to the West Coast of North America via intermodal and rail connections. Northbound cargoes are dominated by processed fish.
Lykes Expands Mexico-South America Service Lykes Lines is extending its Mexico-West Coast South America Service to the ports of Los Angeles CA; San Francisco CA; Seattle WA; and Vancouver BC.

This service will provide a weekly relay connection for Lykes' Pacific Sprint service, which operates between Asia and Mexico, and the west coast of South America.
Nations included in the service are Canada, United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Chile.
