Greatwide to serve Wal-Mart even more

Greatwide Logistics Services has signed a five-year contract with Wal-Mart to provide the retailer with more grocery transport services.

Greatwide Logistics Services has signed a five-year contract with Wal-Mart to provide the retailer with more grocery transport services from a new distribution center in McCarran NV. Dallas TX-based Greatwide provides non-asset-based transportation, third-party logistics, warehouse/distribution, and truckload brokerage services.

When it opens in August 2006, the distribution center will be the 13th facility operated by Clarksville Refrigerated Lines, a Greatwide subsidiary carrier dedicated to serving Wal-Mart stores. By November, the facility will have 25 operations personnel and 180 owner-operators, bringing to more than 2,000 the total number of Greatwide trucks serving Wal-Mart stores.

“This arrangement effectively makes Greatwide the single largest provider of grocery transport services to Wal-Mart Stores,” said Ray Greer, president and chief executive officer of Greatwide.
