Torsion assist lets LPF liftgate fold easier

Waltco Truck Equipment Co has announced that all LPF Flipaway Series liftgates will ship with an improved torsion-assist feature on both the main deck and the Flipaway section of the liftgate platform. With this feature, the main deck and the folding section of the liftgate platform each require only 25 pounds to lift and fold.

The LPF Series Flipaway combines the large platform and load capacity of a rail-type gate, with the folding storage features of a Flipaway. The large, self-leveling platform is provided in 3,000- and 4,000-lb capacities.

Other standard features on the LPF Series Flipaway include:

• Thermalpak with Voltage Guard, a thermally protected power unit that shuts down the power to the liftgate before heat build-up due to low voltage or a bad ground can cause permanent damage to the motor.

• Self-lubricating, fiberglass-reinforced Teflon-coated bearings in place of grease zerks.

• Closed-loop hydraulic system with hydraulic cylinders manufactured and tested in-house by Waltco.

• Hardened pins that cut deflection and prolong bearing life.

• SuperSwitch control magnetically activated and built of plastic to guard against corrosion or damage. A recessed lever prevents the switch from being inadvertently activated.

• Hydraulic cylinders, manufactured and tested in-house.

• Power Down (double-acting) hydraulic operation for consistent performance regardless of weather or temperature.

• Weather-resistant power unit enclosure protects liftgate power unit from corrosion and environmental damage.

• Aluminum platform extension constructed with extruded boards for increased strength and decreased weight.

• New powdercoat finish on key liftgate components.
