Thermo King Corp has opened the industry's first container refrigeration unit manufacturing plant in China. This plant officially opened in September 2002 and hosted an open house Nov 21, 2002.

The company relocated production of its container refrigeration units from Louisville GA to Suzhou, China. Moving its production from the United States to China improves delivery times to Asian box manufacturers. Thermo King will continue to manufacture units at its facility in Langeskov, Denmark.

The new plant in China can deliver a reefer unit to any container manufacturer in Asia within one week. Shipping time of refrigeration units from the United States plus potential customs delays resulted in delivery times of more than five weeks.

Located at Suchun Industrial Square in Suzhou, the plant will manufacture Thermo King's Magnum and CRR-40 container refrigeration units.

Adam Ma has been named plant manager for the facility. Ma has been with Thermo King for 10 years and has held various management positions within the corporation including manufacturing engineering manager with Thermo King in Shenzhen, China.
