    TA Associates, a private equity and buyout firm, has completed an investment in Newark NJ-based Preferred Freezer Services.

    TA Associates, a private equity and buyout firm, has completed an investment in Newark NJ-based Preferred Freezer Services, an operator of refrigerated warehouses. Proceeds from the investment will go to buy out an existing investor.

    Founded in 1989, Preferred Freezer Services operates 12 facilities in five metropolitan areas: New York City, Boston MA, Los Angeles CA, Miami FL, and Chicago IL, providing refrigerated warehouse storage primarily for specialty frozen seafood. With 64 million cubic feet of total refrigeration space, Preferred Freezer Services ranks as the seventh-largest refrigerated warehouse company in North America. Since 2002, it has opened seven new refrigerated warehouses, with plans to build more facilities in the future.
