Fred Herman Bosselman, founder of the Bosselman Companies (travel centers and trucking-related operations), died July 27, 2006, at his home in Worms NE. He was 89. After working as a truck driver for the Herman Brothers Co, Bosselman and his family opened the Bosselman Eaton Truck Stop in Grand Island NE in 1948. Bosselman sold his share of the business in 1964 and built a truck stop south of Grand Island in what would become the new Interstate 80 corridor. This location spawned several related businesses including 38 Pump & Pantry convenience stores. He served as president of the National Association of Truck Stop Operators (NATSO) in 1968. Awards he received include NATSO Outstanding Truck Stop Operator, 1972-1973; and NATSO Distinguished Member Award, 1999.
