Dairy Farmers of America Inc (DFA) has halted production at its cheese plant in Lovington NM. Jointly owned and operated by DFA and the Greater Southwest Agency, the facility produces 65 million pounds of cheddar cheese a year.

Production will be transferred to other DFA plants, with milk that had been marketed to the Lovington plant going to these other facilities. About 60 workers will lose their jobs with the plant's idling.
