Contship Containerlines has upgraded its web site to offer more e-commerce features to improve conducting business transactions on-line.

The upgrade includes an online bill of lading (BL) service that is helping users meet the new United States Customs' Automated Manifest System. This feature takes customers through the process step by step, and enables them to complete the manifest information themselves.

Customers can now register for automated cargo track and trace, input importers' and exporters' BL details, request rates, and request accounts to be linked to those of other customers.

During the remainder of 2003, additional online features likely to be added include online freight invoices, fumigation certificates, insurance certificates, arrival notices, and customized reporting.
