Bentonville AR-based retail giant Wal-Mart intends to build a food distribution center in Mankato MN, its first such facility in the North Star State.

Bentonville AR-based retail giant Wal-Mart intends to build a food distribution center in Mankato MN, its first such facility in the North Star State.

This 880,000-square-foot distribution center would supply Wal-Mart grocery stores in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and North and South Dakota. From 500 to 700 new full-time jobs would be created, according to the company.

The distribution center is scheduled to start operations in 2008.
