Calavo Growers Inc announced a capital investment that effectively doubles manufacturing capacity for its ultra-high-pressure guacamole. The dollar value of Calavo's capital expenditure was not further disclosed.

The company, which packs and markets fresh and processed avocados and other perishable food products, has completed installation at its Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico facility of more machinery used to make the ultra-high-pressure guacamole, expanding manufacturing capability twofold to between 25 and 30 million pounds per year.

Ultra-high-pressure guacamole has anchored substantial sales growth since its introduction in early 2005, capping a restructuring of Calavo's processed-product operations, including the construction of its 90,000-square-foot Uruapan manufacturing plant.
