The Truckload Carriers Association has announced the annual meeting of its Refrigerated Division July 10 to 12, 2002, at the Tamaya resort in Bernalillo NM, a small community on the Rio Grande on the northern edge of Albuquerque. Santa Fe, the historic state capital with its art galleries and outdoor summer opera is roughly a one-hour drive to the northeast. The meeting will focus on financial issues confronting refrigerated carriers, including an analysis of the business climate by John Grayson from Morgan Keegan and Company and a review of costing methods to ensure a reasonable profit by Martin Labbe. Additional speakers will discuss tactics for negotiating with tough customers and a review of insurance premium determinations. Early morning round table meetings will cover ways to recover the fuel surcharge for refrigerated equipment and whether trade cycles should be stretched in the face of low residual values for used equipment. For hotel and convention registration information, contact the Truckload Carriers Association at 703-838-1950.
