The Trucking Association Executives Council has honored William J Canary, president and chief executive officer of the American Trucking Associations, as the 10th recipient of the Bob Halladay Award during its annual convention in Farminton PA recently. This award was created in 1990 and named after the former ATA senior vice-president for federation relations. It is presented for outstanding contributions in assisting and supporting the work and efforts of the state trucking associations.

Among Canary's recent achievements are reaffiliation of the New Hampshire Motor Transport Association with ATA, reaffiliation of the Truckload Carriers Association, and creation of Federation Hall at ATA headquarters in Alexandria VA to honor ATA past chairmen as well as executives of the state associations and conferences. Canary is the second member of the ATA staff to be honored; David F Gordon, director of ATA federation communications, received the award in 2001.
