Instructional Technologies Inc (ITI) is adding two modules — Hours-of-Service (HOS) Regulations and Log Book Maintenance — to its TREAD-1 computer-based driver training system.

“We designed the modules so that if FMCSA makes further amendments, we can update all of our clients' lessons within one to two weeks,” said Jim Voorhees, ITS chief executive officer, who worked both with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and with training directors of several TREAD-1 clients.

Each interactive TREAD-1 lesson runs about 40 minutes, including the HOS and Log Book modules. The new modules are designed to train drivers on all new HOS rules. They provide practical exercises in which drivers apply the new rules by filling out a logbook based on hypothetical situations.
