P & O Cold Logistics (POCL) recently celebrated expansion of its cold-storage facilities in La Porte TX, two miles from the Port of Houston. The addition brings total cubic footage of this facility to 6,067,000 cubic feet, with the capacity for 19,300 pallets. It also allows POCL to offer increased services such as USDA-certified inspections.

Blast-freezing facilities that can handle 1,000,000 pounds per week were a key addition. Also included were 66,000 square feet of fully racked, 40-foot clear convertible freezer space, capable of ice cream storage with a temperature range of -20° to 45° F. The facility is serviced by 36 dock doors complemented by four rail sidings offering access to the Union Pacific Railroad. POCL also offers transportation services ranging from drayage of containers to local and regional deliveries.

“The addition of this warehouse completes a triangle in the Lone Star state with our other two facilities in Dallas and San Antonio,” says William L “Bill” Duffy, president. “These are the three largest markets in Texas, and the synergies are obvious, as P & O Cold Logistics can now handle any size program there with the addition of more than 8 million cubic feet.”
