The Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association Inc (OOIDA) has announced the winners of its 2003 scholarships. All applicants wrote a 500-word essay titled, “The Impact of the Truck Industry on My Life and Academic Career.”
Winner of the $2,000 scholarship award is Darren Stafford, son of member Lewis H Stafford Sr, Cambridge MD. Darren is enrolled at University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne MD, where he plans to major in criminal justice/business management.
Recipients of $1,000 scholarship awards are:
James Scott, son of member Kenneth Scott, Lancaster OH. James is enrolled at the Ohio State University in Columbus OH, where he plans to major in microbiology.
Rebecca Levine, daughter of member Jerry Levine, Exton PA. Rebecca is enrolled at Smith College in Northampton MA and plans to major in art history.
Trisha Crutchfield, daughter of member William Crutchfield, Drexel NC. Trisha is enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and plans to major in information science.
Rebecca Vogel, daughter of member William Vogel, Atglen PA. Rebecca is enrolled at West Chester University in West Chester PA, where she plans to major in criminal justice.
