Jost fifthwheels are available for heavy-duty Peterbilt tractors, Peterbilt Motors Co announced. These fifthwheels have a reliable, positive-locking mechanism in which, upon contact, the spring-loaded steel locking bar automatically slides into position to secure the kingpin. The Jost design also has high-hitch lock guards to help prevent high coupling.

The new optional fifthwheels have only four moving parts, and their design allows for infinite adjustments. The fifthwheel's cast ductile iron top plate features a cushion ring that helps protect the wheel's throat during coupling and reduces friction between the top plate and the trailer's kingpin.

The design also features remote grease fittings that allow for direct lubrication of the lockjaw and kingpin, even when coupled to a trailer. A low-lube top plate is available that reduces greasing requirements for the top plate.

Jost fifthwheels are offered for Peterbilt Models 387, 379, 379X, 385, 378, and 357.

New Dana Spicer air disc brakes are provided for order with select Peterbilt models. Among serviceability features of these brakes are quick-change pads and serviceable components interchangeable between right- and left-hand wheel ends.

The new brakes are offered for Peterbilt Models 379, 378, and 357 configured for on-highway applications and with set-forward front axles.

Stainless steel Donaldson air cleaners that improve filtration efficiency, reduce maintenance requirements, and provide a professional, polished appearance are now provided for select Peterbilt models. These air cleaners have 20% more airflow and three times the filtration efficiency of other models. The dust capacity is also 5% higher for longer filter service life.

The new 15" cowl-mounted air cleaners were developed jointly by Peterbilt and Donaldson. They are five pounds lighter than previously offered air cleaners and have a highly polished finish on both the body and cap. To create a sleeker appearance, the air cleaners were designed with hidden cap fasteners and a twist-to-lock retainer for the screen assembly.

These air cleaners are available for Peterbilt Models 379, 378, and 357. They are standard on the company's special edition Model 379X with an oval-pattern grille.

Peterbilt's Concert Class sound system is now standard with more interior and sleeper configurations. Concert Class now comes standard with American Class and Canadian Class interiors in 48" and 63" sleepers. It remains standard with Peterbilt's platinum level interiors.

The Concert Class sound system radio head unit is XM Satellite Radio-ready. To receive satellite radio, an optional receiver and antenna are necessary, as well a subscription to XM Satellite Radio service. The unit is standard with a cassette tape player and is offered with an optional CD player.
