Wells’ Dairy Inc has acquired FrozFruit and Chill Ice brands of frozen treat products from a New York-based company.

FrozFruit all-natural fruit bars and Chill Ice, a smooth creamy fruit ice, were purchased from Brooklyn-based Fruit-Ices Corp effective August 18.

“The acquisition of these brands provides us with an opportunity to compete in the frozen fruit bar and smooth fruit ice categories,” said Gary Wells, chief executive officer of Wells’ Dairy, manufacturer of Blue Bunny brand ice cream products.

Wells’ has also acquired the lease on a manufacturing facility in Clovis NM from Fruit-Ices Corp, where many of the acquired products are made. About 15 full-time and 18 part-time workers will become Wells’ employees.

Fruit-Ices chief executive David Edelstein said the company plans to continue to manufacture other licensed products including Bazooka Ice, a bubble gum-flavored frozen product.

Wells’ has 2,600 employees in Iowa, Nebraska, and Utah.
