Hanson Logistics plans to purchase 20.5 acres in Hobart IN to construct a $15 million refrigerated food warehouse to serve the Chicago area.

Construction of a 135,000-square-foot temperature-controlled warehouse is expected to start at once, and the facility's first phase should be finished by summer 2007.

This project initially should create as many as 40 jobs. Hanson may build two 110,000-sq-ft additions to the warehouse in the next two to three years, which could boost the warehouse employee total to 100.

The 13th-largest refrigerated warehouse network in the United States, Michigan-based Hanson has seven warehouses.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp provided Hanson $615,700 in tax and job training incentives.
