The International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses (IARW) has released its annual IARW Global Top 25 List of the public refrigerated warehouses (PRWs) with the greatest capacity of warehouse space in the world. Accompanying the Global Top 25 is the IARW North American Top 25 List.

Companies listed on both lists reported increases in their capacity. The Global Top 25 currently operates 2.94 billion cubic feet (83.32 million cubic meters)—a 4.4% increase from 2009. The North American Top 25 currently operates 2.50 billion cubic feet (70.72 million cubic meters)—a 2.85 % increase from 2009.

Combined space of IARW’s total membership, including the Global Top 25 members and the North American Top 25, saw a 5.1% increase from this time a year ago, operating about 3.97 billion cubic feet (112.36 million cubic meters).

IARW has members in 65 nations. This international presence is reflected in the Global Top 25 list, which includes PRW companies with facilities in Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Vietnam, and the United States of America.

A complete listing of all IARW members can be found in the Global Cold Chain Directory, which is available online at www.iarw.org. Printed copies of the directory are also provided—free of charge—to food manufacturers, retailers, foodservice companies, government agencies, trade press, and others working in the cold chain.
