• Mount Airy Cold Storage facility is closed

    Mount Airy Cold Storage, a refrigerated warehouse and distribution center owned by Owings Mills MD-based MHW Group, has been closed in Mount Airy MD.

    Mount Airy Cold Storage, a refrigerated warehouse and distribution center owned by Owings Mills MD-based MHW Group, has been closed in Mount Airy MD. Operations will be consolidated with a bigger unit in Perryville MD.

    The Mount Airy facility, which is being razed, had 30 employees, and the Perryville location will employ about 60 workers. MHW Group still owns the Mount Airy property and is considering plans for its use.

    The company opened the Mount Airy warehouse in 1975 and expanded it in 1976, 1980, and 1985. MHW Group also owns truck brokerage company Cryo-Trans Logistics and Cryo-Trans Inc, which operates more than 875 refrigerated railcars.
