Watsonville Produce Inc has implemented RedLine Solutions’ PTI Lite product for the 2013 spinach season. The simple labeling and traceability system has helped the firm achieve PTI compliance while streamlining its processes.
This easy-to-use system prompts a user to choose information including brand owner, brand, product, source lot, and lot/batch number. It then previews exactly what the case label will look like before it prints. Once a user has imported product and GTIN information, daily case label printing is as easy as a few clicks of a button.
The system also helps eliminate errors and process inefficiencies. Brand owner distinction is particularly useful for companies like Watsonville Produce that pack under multiple brands, eliminating any possible product confusion.
Another benefit to the software is flexibility. Watsonville Produce has set up its printing workstation right outside of production for convenience, but could also choose to print in the field if that became a better fit. Since PTI Lite does not require an Internet connection, users can choose to print from either a PC or a notebook, in the office or in the field.
