Preferred Freezer Services (PFS), a provider of advanced design and engineered temperature-controlled warehouses, has announced the newest addition to its continually expanding footprint in San Leandro CA. The San Leandro facility is the company’s seventh cold storage facility in California and the 33rd worldwide.
This new 250,000-square-foot facility has 15 million cubic feet of storage capacity, an oversize truck yard space, 23 dock doors with levelers, and a PFS online information system. The cold storage warehouse offers three different temperature zones, providing cold chain distributors the opportunity to store a wide range of products under one roof. Temperature compartments include a cooler at 34 to 38 degrees F, a freezer at 0 degrees F, and a low-temperature freezer at –20  degrees F capable of handling ice cream. “Our existing and new customer demand in the San Francisco Bay Area for additional cold storage space has continued to grow over the last three years, and we are thrilled to finally be able to meet those requests,” said John Galiher, chief executive officer of PFS. The construction project began in October 2013 on a 15-acre former lumber site. Preferred Freezer Services of San Leandro has begun accepting product as of June 16. An open house celebration will take place this autumn.
