Shamrock Foods chooses XRS for mobile fleet optimization
XRS Corporation (formerly Xata Corporation; NASDAQ: XRSC) announced that Shamrock Foods has selected XRS mobile fleet optimization and its Mobile Application Programming Interface (API) to improve customer service, comply with regulations, and leverage technology investments across the company and fleet.
Shamrock chose XRS for its ability to build driver workflows in a standard environment. The food distributor will use rugged handhelds that run the XRS application for compliance and truck performance data, in conjunction with proof of delivery applications from Systems Application Engineering Inc (SAE). Drivers will now have one seamless application for both tasks. The firm did this for its 500-truck fleet by walking away from traditional big-box, fixed-modem, single-purpose hardware and on-board computers.
The company turned to XRS to provide FMCSA hours of service compliance data on a mobile device. SAE provided the applications interface and used the XRS Mobile API to allow seamless switching between the XRS electronic driver logs and SAE’s Driver Pro System that Shamrock uses for its proof-of-delivery solution.
Using the Mobile API from XRS, Shamrock enables delivery professionals to work from one simple workflow using the same devices in and out of the cab, leading to a safe and compliant fleet without traditional on-board computers.
The XRS mobile platform runs on more than 50 types of mobile devices and automatically transmits vehicle and operator data directly to a management dashboard, providing compliance for the upcoming mandate for electronic logging devices. With XRS, there are no up-front hardware costs and no capital requirements. Every XRS package includes an XRS Relay in-cab device that communicates via Bluetooth with the driver’s existing smartphone or tablet.
