Transport International Pool (TIP), a GE Capital company, has introduced TIP FastLane, a real-time, web-based over-the-road (OTR) trailer reservation resource. Those wanting to rent trailers can go to www.tiptrailers.com. and click on TIP FastLane to reserve equipment online and get real-time confirmation.

TIP FastLane works in conjunction with the company's online customer service feature called Premier Services also available at www.tiptrailers.com. Free and available to all TIP customers, Premier Services provides round-the-clock, password-protected access to account information including current invoices, billing history, lease information, and specifications of all units on lease from TIP.

AmeriCold, Sara Lee Sign 19-Year Agreement Sara Lee Corp and AmeriCold Logistics have signed a 19-year agreement for AmeriCold to manage distribution from Sara Lee's Tarboro NC production facility, and has committed to a separate agreement to provide warehousing and transportation services nationwide. AmeriCold will provide distribution services from Syracuse NY, Indianapolis IN, and Ontario CA.

AmeriCold will continue to support Sara Lee's focus on low-cost production and distribution, as well as geographic expansion by streamlining the supply chain and optimizing service levels between Sara Lee manufacturing facilities and customers.

TLC Lands Guinness Bass Import Beer Business Total Logistic Control (TLC), a provider of third-party logistics, has been awarded a national logistics contract from Guinness Bass Import Co Inc of Stamford CT.

TLC's new logistic system re-engineers the entire distribution of Guinness, Bass, Harp, and Red Stripe brands marketed in the United States by Guinness Bass Import Co. TLC now provides pier-to-distributor logistics, including inbound warehouse management at ports along the East, West, and Gulf coasts; order mixing and consolidation; and nationwide linehaul and LTL distribution to Guinness distributors.

NFFA Recognizes Henningsen for Facilities Excellence The National Frozen Food Association has awarded its Certificate of Excellence to Henningsen Cold Storage Co after the American Sanitation Institute conducted an on-site inspection of facilities in Twin Falls ID, Stilwell OK, Forest Grove and Portland OR, and Richland WA.

The Certificate of Excellence signifies that the facility conforms to the highest industry and government standards, and adheres to the Code of Recommended Practices for handling and merchandising of frozen foods, as endorsed and subscribed to by the NFFA and 16 other industry associations.

Facilities that voluntarily enroll in the program are graded on planning and organization, maintenance of proper temperatures, outside premises and warehouse interior, overall housekeeping, storage practices, and employee practices.

AmeriCold Opens Call Center for i-3PL AmeriCold Logistics has opened a call center to provide a single point of contact for i-3PL users who need assistance with training and technical issues and who have suggestions on how to improve i-3PL.

An interactive web site, i-3PL enables users to search, drill down, and view online data pertaining to their business with AmeriCold. Customers can phone the Carthage MO center at 877-999-i3PL (4375) seven days a week from 7 am to 12:30 am Central time, or via e-mail at [email protected]. The center is staffed by associates in Carthage, Atlanta GA, and Portland OR. The i-3PL staff also monitors online support forums. A self-guided tour of some of i-3PL's more powerful features is available on CD-ROM and in the Online Help section.

USCS Offers E-USCOLD Online Services United States Cold Storage now offers E-USCOLD online information services through secure Internet access for USCS customers. The company will add features and enhance the system based on needs and scheduled upgrade rollouts.

These services are designed to improve speed and accuracy of obtaining inventory, order status, and other account details. Real-time information is available 24 hours a day through this system. Requests for inquiries or reports link to USCS mainframe computers for up-to-date information from all facilities.

"Help" screens are available for each function. Users can register directly at the web site by clicking on the "Customer Access" button. USCS will process the request, verify information, and e-mail a new user name and password.

Millard Opens Addition to Fort Worth Center Millard Refrigerated Services has opened a first addition and broken ground for a second addition to its Fort Worth TX distribution center. The completed first addition is 81,600 square feet. After completion of the second addition set for autumn 2000, the Fort Worth distribution center will have expanded to 300,000 square feet with more than 9 million cubic feet.

Including those under construction, Millard operates 24 refrigerated warehouse, distribution, and processing facilities throughout the United States. These facilities account for more than 180 million cubic feet.
