Preferred Freezer Services (PFS) announces the latest step in its ongoing commitment to food safety and sustainability.

Earlier in 2016, PFS’s Richland WA facility earned an organic handling certification from non-profit accredited organic certifier Oregon Tilth.

The certification represents the facility’s compliance with USDA National Organic Program guidelines.

Areas of inspection include pest prevention, product traceability, sanitation practices, and adequate separation of organic and non-organic products to avoid contamination.

“Preferred Freezer Services recognizes the unique need of our clients to preserve the identity of consumer food products,” said Eric Wolf, manager of food safety and quality at PFS. “This achievement in Richland is an important way in which we demonstrate our stewardship to protecting not only product safety, but also the quality of organic products trusted to our care and the sustainability strategies of our clients.”

PFS of Richland will implement and adhere an organic handling plan promoting organic best practices in the facility. PFS’s signature standardization of systems throughout the United States allows for efficient transference of these same holistically developed, ecologically balanced organic efforts across the network in the future.

For more information on the Richland facility, contact General Manager Burnie Taylor at 509-371-2800 ext 1523 or email [email protected].
