Miami-Dade County Product Control recertifies Polar King units

March 2, 2022
After extensive impact testing, manufacturer’s walk-in coolers, freezers now approved for high-velocity hurricane zones through 2027

Polar King International secured Miami-Dade County Product Control approval for its walk-in coolers and freezers through June 2027. The company said it received the certification extension by meeting stringent requirements and passing extensive impact testing.

Miami-Dade County initially issues its approval for Polar King units in 2017.

By satisfying the standards for compliance with the Florida Building Code and Miami-Dade County, Polar King coolers and freezers are accepted for use in high-velocity hurricane zones, the company said. Compliance with the county’s building code demonstrates the quality of the seamless construction methods used to manufacture Polar King’s walk-in units.

The Miami-Dade County Product Control approval number is NOA No. 21-0914.04.

All Polar King walk-in coolers and walk-in freezers are manufactured with an unfaced, closed cell polyisocyanurate foam encased in fiberglass, both inside and out, according to Polar King. This construction method and insulation material provides superior R-Values and lower maintenance costs. The seamless exterior also ensures cost-effective operation, even in the most intense heat. Tested above 175 degrees F, Polar King’s fiberglass design is a suitable choice for warm weather climates such as Florida.
