Superior Farms outlines new East Coast strategy

Superior Farms has opened a new, efficient facility and expanded local distribution in Boston MA. It also has formed a distribution partnership with Crescent Packing, a local meat distributor for the New York metropolitan market. Customers in Boston and New York metro will now receive the service of a local distributor coupled with the resources of a leading lamb processor and marketer.

Beginning February 6, Superior Farms will provide improved customer access and expanded local wholesale delivery options through its new distribution location in south Boston. Having served the Boston market for more than 14 years, the new distribution center at 115 Newmarket Square is less than one block from the longtime facility at 155 Southhampton Street. In addition to the new location, Superior Farms is adding local delivery service, previously outsourced to freight companies. The new service will provide more frequent delivery options for local Boston and New England wholesale business.

In New York, Superior Farms’ new distribution partner, Crescent Packing will handle everything from customer service, to sales and marketing of the Superior Farms brand of lamb in that metro area. Crescent Packing, founded by Rocky and Larry Cornelia, began operations in Hicksville NY in 1984. It moved into its current facility in Farmingdale NY in 2008. A USDA-inspected plant that distributes beef, poultry, pork, lamb, veal, and other products, it also has a full-service cutting facility. The location is ideal for serving Long Island and the five boroughs of New York, as well as New Jersey and Connecticut.

Founded in 1963 and based in Davis CA, Superior Farms is a leading processor and marketer of lamb. It provides products and services throughout the United States, Canada, and more than 10 countries. The company has about 400 employee-owners at its nationwide network of facilities and offices.
