C R England driver wins Harley in promotion
C R England has awarded a 2013 Harley-Davidson Sportster Iron 883 motorcycle to Chris Johnson, one of the temperature-controlled carrier’s top company drivers, for showing improvement in miles per gallon average and average idle percentage for the first quarter 2013.
Johnson was selected as the Harley-Davidson winner among five finalists. He is driving a 2013 Freightliner Cascadia and has been working in C R England’s Cheyenne WY fleet. Serving with the company since August 2012, he maintained an average mpg for the first quarter of 2013 of 7.44, which is five-tenths greater than his division and almost more than four-tenths greater than his fleet. He was able to keep his idle average at 8.5% and his fuel stop compliancy average at 95%.
Asked about how he stays fuel-efficient, Johnson said he manages his fuel trip to trip and keeps his batteries charged, so when he is done driving, he can shut the truck down and not idle. He makes his home in Staten Island NY.
The other finalists were John Dubois, National Division; Michael Jairl, Regional West Division; James Wagner, National OTR; and Garland Woodford, Dedicated Daylight fleet.
The first-quarter promotion, which ran from January 1 to March 31, 2013, required drivers to have met these criteria: availability at 75% or higher, an average mpg of 7.2, an idle of less than 13%, fuel stop compliance at 90% or higher, and no chargeable late loads or accidents. Competition included company drivers with a start date no later than January 1, 2013.
C R England’s partners in the promotion are Golden Spike Harley-Davidson, Warner Truck Center, Horizon Truck and Leasing, Love’s Travel Stops, IdleAir, Comdata, EFS, and Pilot/Flying J.
